Vehicle communication takes place with different technologies (e.g. LTE/5G, WLAN) with the outside world or between individual sensors and control units within the vehicle (e.g. CAN, Flexray, Ethernet). A major challenge here is to maintain performance and quality characteristics during system integration, since the communication infrastructures are usually shared and reliability and safety must be ensured for a wide variety of functions.
Several Fraunhofer institutes have developed solutions to support system planning, development and validation.
