Software-defined car or software-defined vehicle is a term that has been used for some time to characterize the fact that vehicle development - following long-standing predictions - is now dominated by software, i.e. other disciplines must now also be oriented to the requirements of the software and not vice versa, as was the case for many years.
This has a major impact on the way vehicles are developed and is also due to the way they are now integrated into the "mobility" ecosystem. The most important changes include "Continuous Engineering" or "Virtual Validation", which means a departure from the classic V-model and a greater importance of model-based development and simulation methods.
