Cyber Security

Industrial control and automation solutions can be found in many fields of application and sectors: typical examples are the industrial production of piece goods, the process industry, critical infrastructures such as energy and water management, applications in building automation, in medical devices and, in particular, in many areas of rail transportation. Vulnerabilities and attacks specifically on control and automation systems can be observed almost on a weekly basis. The protection of industrial control systems, often referred to as OT systems, has therefore been gaining in importance for years. 

Fraunhofer has been conducting research in the field of industrial cyber security for years on topics such as risk analysis, attack detection, trust infrastructures, security tests and more secure industrial communication protocols (e.g. OPC-UA).
